Mid-Week Break

Aak, I made my iPhone all messed up, so I can’t take quick-cheater photos today, which means I can’t show you my paper piecing progress as I’d planned. Ok, I guess could take ‘real’ photos, but I’m too lazy for that today. Hopefully I’ll either have my iPhone sorted out by tomorrow or I’ll be less lazy, one or the other, so I can show you then. For now, enjoy an early mid-week break:

  • 5 steps to improving your piecing accuracy from Craftsy
  • Hand drawn Ghetto Badger plate by jimboart on etsy. Please, Fairy Godmother, buy this for me. I don’t know why but I wants it SO MUCH.
  • Nintendo Characters as Traditional Japanese Woodblock Prints by Jed Henry, from Craftzine
  • Amazing Twin Peaks poster by peterstrainshop on etsy
  • Beautiful antique-Singer-esque desktop wallpaper by Nick Agin at The Fox Is Black. I just saw this about 20 minutes ago and already have it on my desktop.
  • Two very cool and well-illustrated maps of Panem: one by Gerri Sterne, another by aimmyarrowshigh on Livejournal. I finally finished Mockingjay last night, cried, and resisted the urge to start the series over right then.
  • And OHMYGOD OHMYGOD OHMYGOD have you seen The Great Gatsby trailer yet?!?! I almost peed my pants a little. One of my favorite books and favorite directors, I’m not sure how it could possibly go wrong. The 20s should be this way: bright, colorful, exciting – not all washed out and faded the way the old Gatsby movie was. It’s also a dark book, not sappy, and I trust that Baz Luhrmann will capture that properly. He’s awesome, and this trailer seems to be pointing to a much more visually explosive movie than I’d even dared to hope for. I think I need to watch it again now!

I love these mid week break posts! Where do you find all this stuff? Now you’ve got me curious about the Great Gatsby movie, I didn’t have very high hopes but your enthusiasm is infectious!

Oh, you know, in my travels. :) I’m so glad you like them! I just read something that really trashed the Gatsby trailer, though I did get the sense that that person just wanted to have something bad to say / doesn’t like Luhrmann in general. The comments seemed very superficial. I’m wondering if it’s just not ‘cool’ to like him anymore – how fickle these things are! I love him anyway, and I think the trailer looks incredible. Can’t wait to see it in December!
